A Wedding at Seftons Barn // Toni & Simon
This was my first time shooting a Wedding at Seftons Barn in Buckinghamshire and what a fantastic wedding it was! I photographed Toni’s father’s Farm Festival pre-wedding party and Church Ceremony a couple of years ago. It was lovely, therefore, when Toni and Simon got in touch and told me all about their own wedding plans. We had a good chat during their Engagement Shoot in Clifton Village. As a result, I was really looking forward to shooting such a fabulously unique wedding.
Sefton’s barn is a stunning Grade II listed tithe barn, set on a 200 acre farm within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a relatively new wedding venue in the beautiful grounds of the Horse Trust in Speen. However the barn itself has been lovingly restored to make a stunning venue for weddings.
The Horse Trust also care for over 100 retired and rescued horses, ponies and donkeys. Today, the surrounding fields were full of them and inquisitive faces poked out over all the stable doors. These were beautiful creatures and I just knew I had to incorporate them as often as I could in the wedding photography. Star, the beautiful rescue pony who pulled the bride’s carriage was particularly special to the couple.
Champagne and cream teas
After rather an emotional ceremony (a real tear-jerker!), the wedding party headed out to enjoy the surroundings of the Horse Trust. Here, guests could play on the red London Bus, pet the Shetland ponies and generally have a jolly good time at Champagne Hour before cream tea was served in the lunch tent.
Later, we headed off to The Pavillion at Lane End for the evening reception. As well as drinks and dancing, the golf-mad groom had also arranged a closest-to-the-pin golf competition! Certainly another wedding first for me! After snapping a few shots of the Bride and Groom, I put down the camera, picked up a pitching wedge and, well…, reminded myself why I no longer play golf.
Immediately after the wedding, Marie and I headed off on holiday for a week. In spite of this, the laptop came too and I thoroughly enjoyed editing these images by the beach in Mallorca. I’m absolutely delighted with results of this wedding at Seftons Barn.
