Orchardleigh Estate Wedding // Rebecca and Miles
Today’s post is from the super stylish Orchardleigh Estate Wedding with Rebecca and Miles. These guys proved that it doesn’t matter a bit if it rains on your wedding day. Everyone has a brilliant time celebrating regardless, and there is still plenty of scope to get some great photographs if you’ve just got a couple of fancy umbrellas and are willing to get out there!
Rebecca and Miles found me following a recommendation from their best friends after I photographed their gorgeous rustic barn wedding in Somerset a few years ago. It’s so lovely to be recommended by previous clients, so I feel quite chuffed and honoured! Because of this, as well as two cool photo sessions (an autumnal engagement shoot and a scorching summer stroll on the Clifton Downs just before the wedding) I knew these two pretty well and everything was super relaxed on the big day.
Orangery and Walled Garden
After a church ceremony in Beckington (their favourite part of the day), Rebecca and Miles held their reception in the beautiful orangery and walled garden on the Orchardleigh Estate. It’s a fabulous venue, light filled, surrounded by the lovely gardens and set in the most idyllic grounds. You really get the sense that you are in the middle of nowhere. The walled garden with its old brickwork and rambling roses also provided the perfect backdrop to the celebrations.
Dancing in the rain
After the most incredibly hot summer, it was such a shame that the rain started falling just as we left for church. However, as odd as it sounds, I do love shooting in the rain if the couple are up for embracing it and having a laugh. Luckily, Rebecca and Miles certainly did this and their portrait session was soooo much fun. Admittedly, I got drenched and one of my cameras stopped working for 20 minutes, but it was totally worth it! Hopefully, they’ll look back on the pictures in years to come and remember it with a smile. And the rain didn’t last all day, so we were also able to make the most of the beautiful walled garden for some more photos later on.
Equally, I had a such a great day at Orchardleigh. It was particularly good working with James Watson as my second shooter for this wedding, as it meant we could cover both the bride’s and groom’s prep between us. I know the couple appreciated the additional coverage and the extra time I could spend with them, whilst James captured the guests during the reception. Below, I’ve included some of my favourite images from this Orchardleigh Estate Wedding… enjoy!
